The Bridge Program: Community Humanities Education

Unique in its design, goals and intention, providing a free nine-month interdisciplinary course in the humanities for low-income adults.
Tuition, books, transportation, and dinner on the night of class are free. Students who complete the coursework are eligible to receive twelve 100-level college credits from Antioch University Los Angeles.

The Bridge Program course is taught by four university-level professors, and includes in-depth instruction in writing, literature, art history, and philosophy.

The program considers the diverse life experiences our non-traditional students bring to the program to be extremely valuable to the course. The classroom itself is a supportive environment for developing reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, and fosters a strong individual voice through energetic classroom discussions, guidance in close reading, extensive instruction in basic college writing, and mentoring relationships with faculty and tutors.
